I have been successful in securing the MSFHR/CIHR Science Policy Fellowship.  I am the Principal Investigator for "BC Ministry of Health - Development of evidence-based provincial policy and funding options for emergency department services in BC".  Read the MSFHR news article on this.

I am a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia studying Human-Computer Interaction as it pertains to Health. I am enrolled in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am doing my studies at UBC's MAGIC lab under the supervision of Dr. Sidney Fels and Dr. Kendall Ho.

For my PhD, I am designing an online social network, VivoSpace, to promote positive health behaviour change. The key contributions for my research include:

1. A conceptual framework, ABC (Appeal, Belonging, Commitment) Framework, that articulates the motivation for making positive health behaviour change through an online social network
2. Development of design principles for an online social network to motivate health behaviour change.
3. Understanding of personal health information needs and their connection to overall personal information needs
4. A working and evaluated system, VivoSpace, with an understanding of its ability to motivate healthy behaviour

In addition to my doctoral studies, I am also a Quality Leader, for the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council.
